3rd Grade Field Trip
The WEM 3rd grade classes spent Tuesday, February 2nd at the Agassiz Environmental Learning Center in Fertile, MN. While there they learned the art of cross country skiing to explore the winter trails of the Fertile Sand Hills. Students also spent time learning winter survival skills as well as animal survival skills and winter habitats. A special thank you to the Erskine American Legion for the monetary donation that made this experience possible.
Win-E-Mac To Host Scholastic Book Fair
February 16th - February 19th, 2016
Win-E-Mac will host a Scholastic Book Fair Tuesday, February 16th through Friday, February 19th, from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm. Funds raised will help purchase books for the media center and classroom libraries. Families, faculty, and the community are invited to attend this fun reading event that helps inspire children to become lifelong readers.
The Book Fair will feature a special open house the evening of parent teacher conferences with door prizes and crafts on Thursday, February 18th, from 1:00 pm to 7:30 pm.
The Book Fair will be open daily from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm, Tuesday, February 16th through Friday, February 19th.

The Book Fair offers specially priced books and educational products, including popular series, award-winning titles, new releases, adult bestsellers, and other great reads from dozens of publishers.
MADISON MCKEEVER REACHES 3000 POINT MILESTONE!
Win-E-Mac Senior Madison McKeever scored her 3000th point on January 21 in a game played against Lake Park-Audubon. She scored 34 points during that game - all in the first half! Madison is averaging 29.5 points a game.
Only 13 girls basketball players in the state of Minnesota have reached 3,000 points!
Madison has signed to play basketball at NCAA Division I University of South Dakota.
Madison will be recognized for her accomplishment before the girls varsity game during the double header with Ada on Monday, February 1.
Everyone is welcome to come out and congratulate Madison and support the Win-E-Mac Patriots as the boys and girls basketball teams take on the Ada-Borup Cougars.
The 2015 Win-E-Mac School District Spelling Bee was held at on Wednesday, January 20th in the Arts & Events Center. Sixteen spellers--four each from fifth through eighth grades--were selected to compete. In the end, Kolton Crocker, a seventh grader, was the champion and will be going on to compete at the Regional Spelling Bee on at Northland Community and Technical College in Thief River Falls. Taking second place was Anton Hickman, a sixth grader, and tying for third place was Rylee Haugen, an eighth grader, and Lukiya Kutsev, a sixth grader. In all, 133 words were used, with the championship word being "vague".

Win-E-Mac is moving their school contact system to a new company, School Messenger. POSTSECONDARY ENROLLMENT OPTIONS
Postsecondary Enrollment Options (PSEO) is a program that allows 10th-, 11th- and 12th-grade students to earn both high school and college credit while still in high school, through enrollment in and successful completion of college-level, nonsectarian courses at eligible participating postsecondary institutions. Most PSEO courses are offered on the campus of the postsecondary institution; some courses are offered online. Each participating college or university sets its own requirements for enrollment into the PSEO courses. Eleventh and 12th-grade students may take PSEO courses on a full- or part-time basis; 10th graders may take one career/technical PSEO course. If they earn at least a grade C in that class, they may take additional PSEO courses.
There is no charge to PSEO students for tuition, books or fees for items that are required to participate in a course. Students must meet the PSEO residency and eligibility requirements and abide by participation limits specified in Minnesota Statutes, section 124D.09. If a school district determines a pupil is not on track to graduate, she/he may continue to participate in PSEO. Funds are available to help pay transportation expenses for qualifying students to participate in PSEO courses on college campuses. Schools must provide information to all students in grades 8-11 and their families by March 1, every year. Students must notify their school by May 30 if they want to participate in PSEO for
The Win-E-Mac Yearbook Staff is starting our pre-sale for the 2015-2016 yearbook to be called “A YEAR IN COLOR” The yearbook this year will contain 80 pages. It will be printed entirely in COLOR. A theme of artful color will be the cover and divider concept throughout the yearbook. Seniors, underclass students, events, activities and fun memories will be captured and displayed from cover to cover!
Yearbooks are currently on sale. The cost is $35.00 now and until December 22nd and will cost $40.00 after December 22nd. Yearbooks can be purchased during students’ noon hours or from Mrs. Winter (room 51) before or after school. Order forms are available in the office. Be sure to make your order so you are guaranteed a yearbook!
Labels contestStarting Feb. 1 ending Feb. 26
Clip the UPC codes from all Labels for Education, Sunny D and Our Family Products. For Box Tops clip the box top label. Please check for expired or missing dates on box tops as those can’t be sent it and will not count. This contest will be an individual contest so each student needs to bring their labels in a sealed baggie with their first and last name on it along with teacher and grade.
The students who bring in the most labels will be playing bingo!

Elementary Box Tops Goal!
Congratulations to the elementary for exceeding their first challenge! The challenge was to collect a combined total of 1000 Box Tops, Labels for Education, Our Family and Sunny D labels. The challenge began on September 28 and in just 5 days the elementary students collected 1,516 labels! As their reward all the elementary students will have a popsicle party!
