Wednesday, October 22 was National Unity Day. Schools and communities across the country recognized Unity Day in an effort to raise awareness of bullying and to send one large ORANGE message of support, hope and unity.
In 2012 the staff at Win-E-Mac designed a T-shirt that simply states "BE NICE" Win-E-Mac Unites Against Bullying. The 1st Wednesday of each month is designated as "Orange Day" and students and staff are asked to wear orange to show that Win-E-Mac School is united against bullying.
Check out the slide show below to see pictures of Win-E-Mac students and staff on Unity Day!
Congratulation to the following students for being selected as a Student of the Quarter by teachers in each department: Kaysee Mandt, Megan Kangas, Hanna Wiersma, Noah Klinkhammer, Olivia Simonson, Katelyn Sanden and Mackenzie Fuller. These students were chosen based on their academic progress, strong work ethic, good attendance/punctuality, leadership qualities among their peers, and being a positive role model for other students.
Each of the seven high school departments nominate 1 student per quarter for this honor. The Student Achievement Committee makes a breakfast in honor of those nominated students and their parents. The students are recognized by the teachers from each department that nominated them and then given a certificate and a small gift.
